Orange and Engie have signed an exciting  parternship in order to achieve one goal: bring reliable electricity to those who have poor access to electricity.

The issue of electricity in Africa is a great opportunity for the two French companies. They intend to offer individual solutions for Africans, they want houses to be provided with its own photovoltaic panel to supply the daily needs of electricity for a family.   Orange and Engie work also together in order to set up local photovoltaic production to supply a greater number of people.

How will photovoltaic production supply electricity to Africa ?

They are targeting first Senegal and Cameroon. Orange Money will secure the payment: the mobile platform will collect the fees, which means that soon the electricty bills will be generated by your phone operator. Orange Money is already processing 35% of all mobile transaction in Western Africa.  Orange is also investing in smart meter for energy utilities such as Engie.
