Police push the protesters back using rubber bellets
Police had to close a nearly 2km section of Solomon Mahlangu Drive as residents of Mamelodi In Pretoria took to the streets in protests after they had spent 24 hrs without electricity.
More than 100 of angry residents marched up and down demanding the restoration of electricity. The Daspoort tunnel – a major interlinking route between Pretoria North‚ Hartebeespoort and the CBD – in Pretoria West was blocked with protesters shooting at cars overnight.
The protesters were so adamant that they were going to continue protesting until their issues of electricity cuts and water sanitation were addressed.
